Future Exhibits

The Clarke Library has tentatively scheduled the following exhibits:

April 1 - July 25, 2008: French Michigan, 1608-1763

The exhibit will feature the Library's extensive collection of material that document the period of French rule in Michigan. It will examine Native American relations, European exploration of the Great Lakes, the fur trade, settlement patterns and the ultimate end of French rule in North America.

August 11- December 24, 2008: Presidential Campaign Biographies

The exhibit will feature selections from the Library's extensive collection of campaign biographies. For more than a hundred years presidential hopefuls have issued authorized biographies and other publications designed to introduce themselves to the American public. Written with one eye focused on the candidate's life and other firmly fixed on the electorate, campaign biographies are a fascinating lens through which to learn not only who sought the presidency, but how the candidate's tried to explain themselves to meet perceived public expectations.

Dates and exhibits are subject to revision.
